Officiating Soccer Articles

1: What makes a good soccer ref
Just as players need a mix of skills to be good players, officials need a range of skills to be good officials. And sometimes those skills can seem almost contradictory. For example, to be a good referee, you have to blend into the background yet be omnipresent and authoritative. You must be an excellent communicator. You have to maintain control but keep the game in the players’ hands. In the highly emotional arena of sports, you must keep your head while all others are losing theirs.

2: Officiating Soccer Introduction
Perhaps you were one of the millions of kids who played soccer as a youngster (more than 7.7 million youth play soccer in the United States). You may have played at the high school, club or collegiate level. Maybe you enjoy the action, the strategies and the dedication that the game requires. You might see soccer officiating as a way to stay connected to a sport that you love and to stay in shape and have fun. Maybe you’re a soccer official because you want to give back to the sport that has given you so much.
