The Problems... Our
youth soccer players have not grown up in a "soccer
culture".
Weekends and evenings are not spent watching
professional teams play on TV or in person. Many of
their peers and after school activities do not include a
constant exposure to the game that other countries have.
Our players are thrown into a game where they must learn not
only the basics, but all the rules, formations, skills,
teamwork and more. This "rush" that we often feel leads us
to abandon the true focus on BASIC kicking skills.
Many times this leads people to use the phrase, "soccer is
not about kicking".
Our game is all about kicking. The real problem is that
there is not a step by step method to teach young players
the basics, and advancing players how to sharpen their
skills.
The Solution... Create
a way to teach "thoughts" not just actions.
Open the mind through visual guides and thought processes.
It's easy to tell a youth player to kick with their laces
not their toe. Actually having them do it and
understanding it is a much harder thing to do.
Blast the Ball not only explains how to do it, but why we do
it.
It gives thoughts that are outside the NORM, and provide
mental pictures for players of all ages.
